I think the class worked really well today. I was impressed with the choices everyone was making. I would like to see some success criteria displayed so that the kids know what to do at each stage. Maybe they could write this for you, Sheena?

I got the feeling that the students really liked the challenges given and they enjoyed the choice they had. There blogs reflect this.

The activity I chose was word smart because I enjoyed drawing the flag.

I think Independent Learning is fun because you get to decide when you do things.

We are going to have an awesome day we are having a cool triathlon. Our team were excited and speedy. It was the best team triathlon ever after we were sleepy and hungry. We were really proud of coming 17th.

Spelling Strategies

Here are some strategies to help you with your spelling:

words in various ways. Words can be added on a weekly basis.

- Write the word down, picture the word in your head. What

colour is it? Make it change colour. Now say each letter as you

see it in your head.

- Change the medium - write the words using chalk. Write on a

whiteboard. Trace it in sand. Use a paintbrush.

- Identify the ‘spelling rule’ in the words. Underline or highlight

the part with the rule e.g. patch , catch

- Look for smaller words within words.

- What other words do you know that are in the same family. If

you can spell and, you can spell sand, bland, grand.
